As the Managing Partner of the firm, Carl bears the responsibility of steering the firm’s strategic course and ensuring unwavering excellence. Although the firm has been successful for over 130 years, Carl recognises that in an ever-evolving landscape, it is imperative that we continually hone our skills, adapting to the dynamic needs of our diverse clientele.
Beyond the confines of boardrooms and financial statements, Carl being the seasoned professional that he is, actively engages with clients, offering steadfast support during pivotal moments in their business journey. Whether navigating acquisitions, orchestrating reorganisations, facilitating sales, or guiding retirement transitions, he serves as a trusted advisor—a compass in the corporate sea.
Carl’s journey to this esteemed position was unconventional. Armed with a degree in Geology, he charted a new course, veering away from rocks and minerals to embrace the intricate world of finance. Joining the ranks of Simpson Wreford LLP, he embarked on a transformative path, eventually earning the prestigious title of Chartered Accountant in 1992. A mere two years later, Carl ascended to partnership, solidifying his commitment to the firm’s prosperity.
Personal Interests
Yet, life beyond the office walls reveals a delightful contrast. Amidst balance sheets and tax codes, Carl harbours a passion for cricket—an endearing pursuit despite his self-proclaimed lack of talent. As the sun sets on spreadsheets, he dons his cricket whites, chasing elusive boundaries and celebrating the camaraderie of the pitch. And when the roar of the crowd fades, he dons the colours of Scunthorpe United, his local football team from when his was a child.
